Independent Contractor

Doris Dimaya is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) in the state of Missouri. She earned a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Studies from Aquinas Institute of Theology in 2002 and completed her Clinical Pastoral Education in 2003. She has worked as a chaplain at several different hospitals from 2003-2015 and 2018-the present. In 2018, she earned her Master of Science Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. During her counseling internship, she served as a counselor with an organization called ALIVE (Alternatives to Living in Violent Environments). She joined our team of counselors at Agape Christian Counseling Services in 2021.

Doris has a passion for meeting with people and helping them work towards reaching personal goals while addressing the stress which surrounds the process of healing from emotional or physical injuries, illnesses and trauma. Her interests lie in assisting children, adolescents, adults, and couples who are seeking happiness, peace and serenity in their lives. Doris understands it can be difficult for individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, or who have experienced trauma to attain a peaceful and positive state of mind. However, talking with a trusted counselor about experiences, thoughts, and feelings is a great first step towards creating a change and positive direction in life.

Doris believes in the journey through counseling, that you expect growth and deepening of self-awareness, acceptance about the realities in your life, and personal actions which will move you towards improvement in mind, body, and spirit. Her approach is to be present with her clients and to help them feel heard and find their voice by providing a safe and respectful environment. She offers coping strategies, assistance in setting and reaching personal goals, and guidance in reflecting on and discovering meaning in your life experiences.
