Affordable Counseling Fees
It is our belief and passion that every person deserves access to quality affordable counseling, regardless of their financial resources or insurance coverage. Therefore, we do our best to offer affordable counseling fees. We offer Sliding Fees Scale, Insurance and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) options. Some clients also qualify for free counseling. Our standard fee is $175.00 per session. However, the majority of our clients use one of these options for affordable counseling fees.
Insurance
Most insurance plans offer mental health coverage. Plans vary from person to person. Your insurance plan determines your counseling fee. We accept most major insurances and we are happy to check your benefits for you. Some plans also have Out of Network benefits.
The insurance companies our counselors accept are listed below. Please be advised different counselors take different insurances, and this list is not necessarily exhaustive. If you do not see your insurance company on the list, please contact us. We are glad to find out if you have coverage for mental health / behavioral health services.
Insurances we accept include, but are not limited to:

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP):
Many employers offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). EAPs typically cover 3 – 6 cousneling sesssions without charging you a counseling fee. Your human resources department can direct you to your EAP provider. After you speak with your EAP provider, they will issue an authorization code to us. EAP is designed to help you address crisis, grief, interpersonal work issues, or other short term care. In many cases, our clients and their counselors may determine that they need care beyond the allotted 3 – 6 sessions. Our Intake Team will discuss your additional payment options at the time of your intake. This insures uninterrupted care, if you and your counselor determine a longer period of care is necessary.
Sliding Fee Scale
If you do not have insurance with mental health coverage (or if we do not accept your insurance), we use our sliding fee scale to determine your counseling fees. The Sliding Fee Scale begins at $175.00 per session and goes as low as $10.00 per session. Your combined annual household income and the number of people in your household will determine your fee. Agape’s Intake Team will discuss your sliding fee scale amount, during your intake.
Note: To participate in Agape’s Sliding Fee Scale program, proof of income will be requested at the initial session, and periodically throughout treatment (typically, every 6 months, or if income changes). In the event of changes to income, the Sliding Fee Scale amount may be subject to corresponding adjustments. This allows Agape to continue providing Mental Health Services with affordable counseling fees to all clients.
Low Income Adjustments / Free Counseling:
Families or individuals with low income or no income, may qualify for adjusted fees or even free counseling, through our Intern Counseling Program. Interns are trained graduate-level counselors that have not taken their state licensure exam.
In order to become eligible to graduate and complete their state licensure exam, Interns must conduct counseling services and meet with a supervisor, once weekly, to gain in-vivo training. Most of Agape’s interns meet with multiple supervisors, throughout the week for additional training. This is an opportunity for us to offer low rates and sometimes free counseling to our clients who need it. These clients and counselors have found both healing and success. Many clients have discovered wonderfully talented and caring people through our internship program!
Note: Adjusted fees for our intern counselors are based on annual household income, as with our Sliding Fee Scale. Clients interested in free counseling must complete a “Financial Assistance Form” to demonstrate their need. A determining committee will evaluate needs on a case-by case basis.
